Tech Tips Newsletter 1.3 June 9, 2009

Today’s Tech Tips Newsletter is going to focus on amazing video resources. Many of these are great classroom resources, but just as many are equally valuable for personal and professional development. Being exposed to great ideas can energize and motivate all of us, and it never hurts to model lifelong-learning to our students and children.
Please note that the sites below contain a lot of content, some of which may not be appropriate for all viewers. Always pre-view any media you plan to share.
- TED.com If you’re new to TED, browse a bit and choose a subject that fascinates you- science, language, culture… My favourite TED talks include the intelligence of crows, life in the ocean, and making the dictionary. (Feel free to post yours in the comments!)
- Canada’s National Film Board. The NFB has just signed an agreement with ERAC giving BC schools access to their full online collection. You can access the resources freely for now, but schools will be issued user ids and passwords eventually, so if you get asked to login, just contact the tech department for assistance.
- CBC archives. Want to relive history? This is the place. The CBC has assembled a wonderful collection of archival TV and Radio files, and there are even lesson plans!
