The Tech Tips Newsletter is a new idea that came out of conversation with the NOW Advisory Committee and the technology department.

Each week, I will send out one short tip via email and this blog.  If you have something you would like to know, or a handy tip that you think might be useful to other staff, please email me, or leave a comment on this blog.
Filtering profanity on YouTube

YouTube fans can now read the comments on videos without feeling like they need to wash their eyeballs when they are finished.  Activating the filtering is simple, and teachers using YouTube resources in the classroom may like to make themselves familiar with this little trick.
First, go to any video on YouTube.  Under the video, look for the Comment options link:

YouTubeComments

Click to open the options pane adn check ‘Filter W*rds’.

YouTubeComments2

Now all videos you view should have the comments filtered.  If you do this while logged in to your YouTube account (recommended), it should keep the setting from session to session.
